This is a best kept secret that need to be experienced

The museum and its artifacts are so poorly-maintained and managed. The director of the museum focuses all efforts and resources on providing activities only with profits in mind. The artifacts are not handled according to any preservation or archival standards. The exhibits themselves are disorganized and there were factual errors in many descriptions. The people who gave this place 5 stars either worked, interned, or volunteered there. Also, the director and some staff regularly makes racist comments. One example, and this is 100% fact, is regarding a program--she was not involved in--to get African-American kids and "off the streets." She told her employee, "There are some good black people out there, you just have to find them." The museum is oblivious to real cultural sensitivities and complexities and a shame when it comes to artifact-handling. Save your time and money. Go to someplace meaningful.

Good people run this place. Interesting small museum.

Small nondescript building is hiding a wonderful world of information and vibrant culture you can actually see firsthand. The docent who took us through was super, she had knowledge to share and fun stories that engaged. Would definately not mind going back for another visit!
